Does Argo sound like a dodgy movie? Yes, it does. But it turns out to be one of the best movies I’ve seen this year.
Actor/Director Ben Affleck did it again. After numerous great movies under his belt, now he has come up with a movie that’s worth 8.4 rating on IMDB and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Bravo.
Argo tells the story about the riot that was happening in Iran during 1979-1981. The whole tension there escalated, as Iranians saw themselves as being ‘ruled’ by the Western society. A lot of Americans who worked in the US embassy in Iran were detained. But six of them escaped, and took refuge in the Canadian consulate’s house.
Yet it would be just a matter of time until the Iranians knew that some Americans did escape.
The CIA had a plan. They made a fake movie, a fake hit, a fake poster, a fake script, and everything. These Americans pretended to be Canadian crew film. They tried to get out of the country.
Simply put, it was an intense movie. I was stressed (in a good way) over the whole movie and I kept on praying that these people would go out safely. That they would, you know, survive.
There was no action, minimum violence. But I guess this is the closest depiction towards what’s happening in the society. Sometimes things can’t be resolved by using guns. Sometimes you just need to outsmart the other.
A brilliant, brilliant movie. Just. Brilliant.
