love is not only wordsThe one who loves you will tell you he loves you. He will also give you the best part of the chicken, take the day off to pick you up from the airport two-hour drive away, and massage your feet when they are swollen.

The one who loves you will tell you that you’re more than just a friend. He will also wait for you, look for you every day, and not flirt with other girls.

The one who loves you will promise to always be with you and take care of you. He will also order your favourite dishes, let you pick the movie to watch, and make time for you, no matter how busy he is.

The one who loves you will praise your outfit of the day. He will also hold your hand proudly when you don’t feel like dressing up. He will still kiss you good morning, no matter how you look straight out of bed.

The one who loves you will tell you how much you mean to him. He will also let you take the first sip of his drink and the first spoonful of that char kwetiaw. Moreover, he will let you swap your food with his halfway through dinner.

The one who loves you will tell you that you’re his queen. He will also treats you as such – you’ll never be left wondering if you’re the number two.

The one who loves you, when asked whether he was tired of travelling on a plane weekly to see you, will smile instead and hug you. Because you’re more important than his fatigue. Because he wants to see you, and spends time with you.

I know, he’s by no mean perfect. After all, he’s only human. Once in a while, he may be late to pick you up on a date. He may forget to buy you flowers on your anniversary. He may not arrange any surprise visit or practice his romantic muscle for along time. He may organise dinner with his mates when you’ve just finished your shift – when all you want is eat comfort food with him and sleep.

He may not brag about you on social media, even when sometimes you want him to. He may not kiss you, hug you, or hold your hand when going out with your friends, because he’s just too shy.

But he will bring you dinner when you’re sick. He will call you good night even when he’s overseas. He will apologise for his mistake, for your mistake, and make it up to you. He loves you, and he’ll make sure you know it.

Because his love is not only words.

When it comes to men who are romantically interested in you, it’s really simple. Just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do.
