This is an overdue review, but please, enjoy :).

A couple of weeks ago I went to the cinema with my sister to watch our long-awaited movie: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. I bet half of you who are reading this post at the moment never even heard of the movie. The other half of you that have heard of it, do not bother to watch it.

We tried hard to ask people to join our little movie getaway, but no one’s interested. Basically, the movie attracts a different crowd – it’s a movie for older generation, plus it has a drama genre. Not the people’s choice in general, of course.

The movie is similar to the eight-people-who-accidentally-met-each-other kind of thing. However, it’s not a chick flick. It’s about the realisation about getting old, and how you deal with it.

Watching this movie in my 20th year of life somehow doesn’t really make sense. I have no idea that I’m getting old. I haven’t even gotten my first real job. How can I think of such thing as retirement? But it sure makes me see life in a different way.

“A group of British retires decide to ‘outsource their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India. Enticed by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel, they arrive to find the palace a shell of its former self.”

The movie presents you with an inevitable question that everyone of us would face one day: “When I’m old and helpless, what would I do?”

Would you keep on doing to the best that you can, or would you let life gets the worst of you? Would you let yourself fall in love once more after a loved one died? Would you embrace new challenges, or slowly, reluctantly walk towards your deathbed?

What would be said in your obituary? I couldn’t help but think of mine.

Everything that has a beginning, has an end. And this movie somehow captures that essence and brings hope towards those who have one foot on the grave. Retirement is a beauty itself. Death is meant to be greeted like an old friend, instead of to be feared. Life is to be lived to the fullest.

I would highly recommend this movie to all of you, because it has impeccable acting from great actors and actresses.

Maybe, it may leave a deep impression within you, like it did to me.
